Theme from Red Stallion's Revenge, Part 1 & 2

Little horse, pretty horse
Newly born before the dawn
Your mama's gone, the timing's wrong
You'll stay asleep until she comes

Little horse w/ auburn hair
You don't see her anywhere
All the fears you feel inside
Are just some tears you've had to hide
You've had to hide

The morning sun is in your eyes
On wobbly legs you're forced to rise
You little horse
Pretty little horse
----
Little bear, crazy bear
Runnin' down the mountain side
You're lonely now, you're lonelier
Than anyone, anywhere

Hungry bear without a home
Without someone to call your own
You're angry that you're still alone
A stranger still with time to kill
The honey's gone

Yes, life is sweet until it's done
You'd better push yourself along
You silly bear
Crazy little bear
----

The race is on and the race is won
By the strongest leg and the fastest gun
It's the call of the wild and the youngest son
But the winner wins none when the race is done
And the end of the chase might end us all
With our backs to the wall, it's a wildcat's call
In the minds of the men with their cattle and plow
Is the end of the line for the wolf and the owl
Hey ya...

Song notes: I co-wrote this one w/ Trisha Lovgren. The lyrics are mine, if I recall correctly, and she helped with the music. It's basically the score for a seven-minute black & white silent film, from around 1950, called The Red Stallion's Revenge which was found by Vanessa Renwick of the Oregon Dept. of Kick Ass (Odoka.org). Trisha, Chad, and I performed it "live" at a film festival in Portland. Sleater-Kinney scored the same film the previous year.
